Terms & Conditions of Individual Membership

Junior Chamber International UK Terms & Conditions.

Effective Date: October 31, 2020

1. Interpretation

1.1 Contract Term means the initial 12-month period from the date when the Member completes JCI UK’s Membership Application Form.

1.2 Member means a person who is named on JCI United Kingdom’s (“JCI UK”) Membership Application Form which is available with any of our Local Chamber Membership Plans found here: https://www.jciuk.org.uk/memberships/memberships and who is accepted as a member of JCI UK.

1.3 Membership means the period of time when a Member is contracted to JCI UK.

2. Agreement to these Terms

2.1 When applying for membership of JCI UK, the Member confirms that he/she has read and agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

3. Contract Term and Payments

3.1 Membership of JCI UK is for an initial Contract Term of 12 months from the date when the Member completes JCI UK’s Membership Application Form and is accepted as a member of JCI UK.

3.2 To be a Member of JCI UK, you must be aged between 18 and 40 years old.

3.3 Payment for membership must be made via Direct Debit through the GoCardless platform. You can pay either monthly or yearly. Currently, monthly payments are £10 per month and yearly payments are £120. Membership payments can change in line with the JCI UK Constitution, a copy of which is available on request to any Member.

3.4 If at any point you cancel your direct debit, your Membership will be suspended until your Membership payments are brought up to date.

3.5 Membership fees can be paid for by a different person, but that does not give Membership to the person making payment.

4. Renewal of Membership

4.1 If you are paying for your Membership via a recurring payment direct debit (either monthly or yearly), your Membership will be renewed when we receive the first payment in the next Membership period. We will take this payment as indication you wish to continue your Membership for the coming year.

4.2 If you pay by a non-recurring yearly direct debit, then on the day after your Membership ends, your Membership will be suspended until payment is made. When your payment is received, this payment will be back dated to the date of your Membership renewal.

5. Cancellation of membership

5.1 If you wish to cancel your Membership, you can do so at the end of the Contract Term. You can give notice of cancellation at any point within the 30 days leading up to the date of your Contract Term ending.

5.2 If notice is given during the Contract Term, the Member remains liable for Membership payments for the remaining period of the Contract Term.

5.3 Following the expiry of the Contract Term, your Membership will continue for a further 12-month period unless and until written cancellation (via letter or email) is received by JCI UK’s Financial Director.

6. Transfer of Membership

6.1 Membership is for the person named in JCI UK’s Membership Application Form. Membership cannot be transferred from the Member to another individual.

7. Events Cancellation Policy

In-person Events

If a registration fee was paid, cancellations more than 48 hours from the scheduled event start time will receive a full refund. We're sorry, but last-minute cancellations (less than 48 hours from the scheduled event start time) or no-shows are ineligible for refunds. At any time, you are welcome to send an alternate to the event in your place. Advance notice is preferred. JCIUK may, at its sole discretion, choose to cancel an event due to low attendance or other unforeseen circumstances. In this case, we will notify you via the listed email address and/or telephone number provided at registration. JCIUK will refund limited to registration fees paid. JCI UK reserves the right to substitute alternative presenters due to unanticipated situations.
