At JCI, we pride ourselves in our determination to ‘Be A World Changer’
so why not end the year on a high and make a real difference to not only the local community, but communities across the globe, and provide children in need with the Christmas they deserve!
From November 1st, 2018, the Samaritans Purse charity will begin collecting shoeboxes that have been decorated and filled with gifts by local communities and schools, to send over to less fortunate countries with the aim of making a difference this Christmas.
Shoeboxes can include many different items, such as toys, school supplies, hygiene items and more, view the full list here. We suggest that you ask every attendee to bring along their own shoebox and supplies, and then provide wrapping paper, food and drinks and perhaps even a few more products as a chamber. A community or church hall would be a great idea to hire for this event and will not impact cost much either.
We aim for this event to be both a member and non-member event, and free entry for all, perhaps a donation could be suggested for the food and drink, although this is optional and can be decided within your chamber. It is a great opportunity to socialise with members, and spread the good morals both JCI and the Samaritans Purse have in common.
This winter, we at JCI UK would like to encourage you to join us in collaborating with such a wonderful cause. A rough budget plan will be sent to all Local Presidents to help give an idea of how much it will cost each chamber to participate, and then the choice is yours! Why not whack out the cheesy jumpers, mince pies and mulled wine and have an afternoon of fun while you’re at it!
If you need any help planning this event, please don’t hesitate to contact Chloe, our National Secretariat (Email is attached at the end), who will be happy to help with all issues and/or research.
