Why I stood for Marketing Director
Why I stood for Marketing Director
I have worked in Bradford for just under 2 years and was very keen to join JCI when I heard about it. At first my intention was to just build my confidence with public speaking and with networking as I felt this was something that could drag my career down. I knew JCI was focused around personal development, however I was not aware that you could enter at an immediate leadership role! I went along to the first council meeting when I joined, and was overwhelmed by how much I could be involved. Once I found out they were looking for a Marketing Director I put my name forward as since I started work it has become a big interest of mine. All the council members were very supportive and although my experience with Marketing wasn’t huge they accepted! That’s the great thing about it, becoming part of the council doesn’t rely on your skills or experience it is about building those up in a topic that interests you!
I am hoping to continue to get the name of JCI Bradford out there and gain more members; I recently set up @JCIHour on Twitter to get all Chambers to tell each other their news on Mondays at 6-7pm. I was shocked by the great response it had and I am hoping it will eventually reach an international level!
I love how all members can get involved with anything that interests them. The community projects are also a great interest of mine and I enjoyed helping out without first ever Easter Egg Appeal! I am also looking forward to spreading the word that it’s out Secret Santa’s 25th year!
Any members are welcome to get involved with the Marketing side! I had some fantastic help with the #JCIHour and it was great to see members working together.
If anyone is interested in getting involved or if you have any ideas just email me at brogan@jcibradford.org.uk
