Presidents Blog - February

Council team » CouncilTracy.jpgWhat a great start to the year!

We started with our annual dinner, a ‘stars in your eyes theme'. We were joined by The Fugees, The Blues Brother, Elvis, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and S Club 9. We celebrated the past year in style and I also have to congratulate JCI Barnsley's newest Senator Richard Grange 74051. We raised £262 for our chosen charity of the year Barnsley Independent Alzheimers and Dementia support. You can read more about it in the blog by our Immediate Past President Ben Hawley. On the weekend after our dinner we had our first social event of the year, we entertained our twins from JCI Aberdeen with a spot of crazy golf.

Four of us travelled over the pennies for the first National event of the year, Inspiration Day in Manchester and we came home feeling inspired and with loads of certificates to hand back to our members. We also opened ticket sales of the JCI UK National Conference which we are hosting in November with an absolute bargain early bird package, we only have limited number of these tickets left, so don't miss out, why not book today! To hear about what else we got up to at Inspiration Day read the blog from our Deputy President Jo Mackfall.

So what have we got coming up here in Barnsley, we have Fiona Silvester from JCI Rotherham doing a session on prioritising and time management and we are volunteering with Voluntary Action Barnsley to plant trees in the local community

The first JCI Yorkshire event, is coming up next month, The Big Supper hosted by JCI Bradford, why not pop along for food, training and a chance to catch up with our Yorkshire buddies.

If you haven't experienced an International event, then this is the year to do it. With the 100 years celebrations both the European Conference and World Congress promise to be a great event. Both these registration fees go up at the end of the month.

And finally, to those that follow me on Facebook you will have noticed that I'm posting photo's that make me happy with the hash tag- #jcibarnsley100. This is because I have challenged our members to a 100 challenges. I have chosen a 100 happy days, the challenge could be logging 100 ACE hours, raising £100 for our 2015 charity, collecting a 100 business cards. What's yours?

Have a Happy February!
