Meet your LEAP 2018 Training Team
Posted By admin |23 Aug 2018
LEAP (Leadership Excellence in Action Programme) is JCI UK's flagship academy, enabling participants to go on a journey of self-discovery of themselves, their leadership traits and how they interact and lead a team. We have a fantastic team of trainers, with a broad range of leadership experience in JCI, excited to welcome you and facilitate your learning experience.
Dan Senter
I joined JCI in 2009 and from 2010 onwards got actively involved in my local Chamber, JCI Sheffield. In 2013 I was Local President of JCI Sheffield and then went on to support the JCI UK National Board and along the way getting involved in the National Training team. I've trained within JCI both locally and nationally having covered JCI accredited courses and personally developed business improvement and technology content. Outside of JCI I work in Data, Analytics and Technology leading transformation and business change projects. I have worked across a number of industries in FTSE 25 organisations and love to bring the learnings from these organisations back into the training I deliver, helping others in their leadership journeys...
Interesting fact: I masterminded JCI UK LEAP and was the Project Lead to setup and run the first JCI UK LEAP in 2012...
Mark Smith
I did the very first LEAP back in 2012 just a few months after joining as a JCI Sheffield member. Since then I have been on the LEAP training team every year and I am now preparing to lead the organisation as the 2019 National President. If I had to pick just one thing I have learned through JCI, it is definitely all the material covered on LEAP, especially understanding yourself and other people's personalities and how you can adapt to get the very best out of working with others. If only I knew this years ago!

I joined JCI in 2006 and have held numerous roles in my local chamber, JCI London, as well as nationally. These include local president in 2011 and national president in 2016. Getting involved in training has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my JCI membership. I’m so grateful for all the ways in which JCI has helped me develop and I love being part of other members’ journeys through the organisation. I’ve helped establish JCI UK’s Public Speaking Academy and Training Academy and have trained at the European Academy in Sweden several times. This will be the fifth time I’ve trained at LEAP - it’s such a fantastic experience, developing the future leaders of JCI.
Johnny Damtoft
Johnny joined JCI in 2010, immediately jumping into Personal Development. Within his first year of membership, he had planned, executed and participated in JCI Presenter and JCI Trainer, which has inspired Johnny to continue down this path. Johnny’s passion is Personal Development, specializing in Insights Discovery both in- and outside of JCI, he’s an active trainer of effectiveness, communication, storytelling, presentation, training and leadership. As Johnny was inspired by Personal Development, he enjoys giving back through the same methods. In 2015 Johnny was a co-founder of a new local chamber, he was Local President 2017 of JCI Bjerringbro, and he’s always ready to take on new challenges. Outside of JCI, Johnny owns a few business, BigBlue, delivering IT Consulting Services, Godding & Godding Europe, selling amazing handcrafted skincare products. In his limited spare time, Johnny is working towards creating BigBlue Academy, a free and simple to use framework based on Insights principals. Johnny is married, father of two girls, age 11 and 13, and they all enjoy experiencing new things. They’re currently planning to visit London later this year.

I became a JCI member in 2015 and since then have taken on roles both locally and nationally. In 2016 I was the charity director for JCI Manchester, supporting them in fundraising for their chosen charity and giving members the opportunity to give back and volunteer. Following a move to Nottingham I was an essential part of building this new chamber included recruiting other members and supporting them in taking on roles to ensure the chambers future. I have continued to stay involved and support them during my time on the national board 2018 as community director. I have been trained in most official JCI training courses and have a keen interest in being a part of the National Training Team. Part of this included attending LEAP in 2017, giving me a great opportunity to evaluate and better understand my leadership style and how best to use this to work well with others. LEAP 2018 gives me an exciting opportunity to utilise this knowledge and further develop my skills whilst influencing and helping develop other future leaders.

I have been a member of JCI for over 10 years. In this time I have taken Local Council roles, including Local President, and served in 4 positions on the JCI UK National Board. I was involved in Leap in 2014, and am currently the COC Director for the 2018 JCI UK National Convention. I am fortunate enough to have attended JCI academies and conferences in 11 different countries.
Professionally I have worked in Human Resources and Training for 12 years. In this time I have managed and delivered many different training programmes, from commercial courses to internal development programmes. Above and beyond my role, I am also proactive in community and CSR activities, delivering employability and teamwork skills to a variety of different groups, including offenders due for release from prison.
I am so passionate about personal development, and I have witnessed the impact that Leap has had on people. I can't say how much I am looking forward to delivering on Leap this year and working with the delegates!

I joined JCI in 2012 and attended the second LEAP in 2013. It is safe to say that LEAP was the one event that got me completely hooked on JCI and LEAP really has helped change my life. I have been involved on the training or organisation side of LEAP every year since then and was the Conference Director for it in 2015 and the JCI UK Personal Development Director in 2016. In my professional life I am a qualified accountant and am putting those skills to good use by being the Finance Director for JCI UK this year. I am really looking forward to seeing the journey that the LEAP delegates go on this year and how they utilise the skills learnt in their future careers and also within JCI.
