Ask Anything Managing Your Personal Finances Event Write up
By Tracy Grange
Having already been to a personal finance session previously run at the JCI UK National Convention a couple of year ago I knew this topic was a good one, I got loads from it and it certainly made me think. When I saw the JCI UK was running a question and answer session on the topic it came at a good time as I had some specific questions to ask.
JCI as we know is full of likeminded individuals who have come from various backgrounds. The panel consisted of Jasmine Lambert, a qualified Financial and Estate Planner, James Lambert (Not related to Jasmine!) Chartered Tax Adviser and fully qualified Accountant, and Hope Chirengwa a Chartered Accountant.
The session was attended by members from around the UK. (A massive positive to come out of all this, yes you cannot beat being face to face session but being online now allows members to attend training from around the UK!)
The panel started by sharing their top tips and then it was our turn, the questions put to the panel covered a range of topics:
- Where do you find a good financial advisor?
- How much they the usual cost?
- Should I buy a house or rent? Including buy to let mortgages (An interesting question that did divide the panel!)
- Overseas investments
- Where should I save money for my children for when they are older?
- How the self-employed pay their tax and how is this different to being employed?
Thank you panellists for sharing your knowledge with JCI fellow members.
JCI Members use these question and answer sessions to ask questions in a safe environment.
