A Charitable July
A Charitable July
July has all been about challenging ourselves for charity, and as a chamber we’ve stepped up to the mark. This month has seen members walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks, take part in the Barnsley Hospice’s Neon Night Out 10k Walk and myself competing in Not So Strictly Come Dancing. Also, since the last Banter, members from JCI Barnsley attended the JCI European Conference in Malta. Whist there, we were in the shortlist of three chambers that were up for the Best Chamber in Europe award. THAT’S AMAZING! It makes me so proud that JCI Barnsley is classed as one of the three top chambers in Europe. It really is a sign that all the hard work and effort put in by our members is paying off. A MASSIVE well done to all of you. Of course there was far more going on at conference that just an awards ceremony, so Tracy has written an article about it all here.
The first one of the challenges that I mentioned earlier was the Yorkshire Three Peaks. This was tackled a couple of weeks ago now (although it doesn’t seem like it!) and saw members from Barnsley, Rotherham and Bradford take on the might of the gruelling 26 mile walk with the added issue of the three highest peaks on Yorkshire thrown in for good measure. A full run down of the event that was done in aid of BIADS has been put together by Peter can be found here.
It was a busy Saturday 19th July, with both the Hospice Neon Night Out 10k Walk and Not So Strictly Come Dancing on the same evening. Charlie has written a blog post about the walk and it can be found here. I do know that all members who attended had a great time at the event in aid of The Barnsley Hospice.
The final challenge of this month was from me and our Regional Group Chair, Katie when we took to the dance floor for Not So Strictly Come Dancing in aid of Safe@Last. It was a fantastic experience and I’m so glad I did it. I’d recommend it to anyone else to do it as it is so rewarding and an amazing night. You can read about what happened on the night here.
That’s about it for this month, so hope to see you at an event in the future.
Cheers
