5 ways to support Southampton City Mission this year
We’re proud to be supporting Southampton City Mission (SCM) as our chosen charity of the year in 2019. This fits hand in hand with our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the year, working towards “No Poverty” and “Zero Hunger”. You can find out more about the charity here.  So far this year we have done our Pound a Day challenge, Lent Appeal and had members run in the ABP Southampton Half Marathon and 10k!  We have an ambitious fundraising goal for the year so here are 5 ways you can help us with our challenge!  1.  Buy a ticket to our JCI Southampton 60th Annual Gala Dinner  Our 60th Annual Gala Dinner will take place at St Mary’s Stadium with a 3 course dinner, a glass of fizz on arrival and an evening of celebration with all profits going to Southampton City Mission. Early bird tickets are available until 31st July!  2. Join us to Walk the Test Way in September!  We are taking the challenge of an 8 mile walk this September along the Test Way. We are currently getting a team together so you can register your interest here or sponsor us here.  3. Donate items!  As you’re doing your weekly food shop, chuck a couple of extra items in your trolley and bring them along to any of our events and we will donate them on your behalf. People often fixate on baked beans and cornflakes to donate to food banks but they need a range of items! Find out what kind of things to donate here. I always like to buy things I’d like to eat myself so I tend to get things like rice pudding, chunky soup, hot chocolate, tinned pineapple etc.  4. Come along to our Big Fat Charity Quiz!  This year we have been running a monthly pub quiz series all in preparation for our own charity quiz on 28th November. Form a team of 6 or register as an individual and we’ll pop you in a (hopefully) winning team! Tickets are £15 and include a drink and a selection of tapas with all profits going to SCM.  5. Take part in our reverse advent calendar in December! What’s a reverse advent calendar, I hear you ask? All will be revealed later this year so watch this space!
