President's Blog - June
Hi All,
Welcome to the latest update from JCI Barnsley. I know I’ve said this before but it’s been a busy month. So much so, I have only had 3 nights at home in May! Most of my nights out were spent at JCI events, both in Barnsley and around the region. A lot of my time this month has been on training walks for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with the members who are going to tackle the challenge on the 12th of July. We’re doing it for Barnsley Independent Alzheimer and Dementia Society, a cause close to my heart. We want to raise as much money as possible for this great cause, so if you can support us, please do. You can donate on the online donation page by clicking here. If you would prefer to support us via a good old fashioned paper sponsorship form, please get in touch and we can sort that out as well. Also, if you can share the sponsorship page around as many people as you know, that would be fantastic.
Another large part of my life at the moment is taken up with ballroom dancing. For those of you that know me well, this might not seem an obvious pastime, and you’d be right. The reason I’ve started doing the Tango and the Cha Cha Cha, is that I’m taking part in Not Strictly Come Dancing, a charity dancing completion in aid of Safe At Last. It’s a great cause and the dinner on the 19th of July should be great fun.
It’s not just me that’s been busy this month, it’s been a full for most of the membership. A number of us helped out at Barnsley Hospital Charity’s Rainbow Run the other week, you can read more about the event here from the view point of Ian.
May saw us hold a new members evening to introduce people to JCI and what it can do for them. The project team was headed up by Oliver. From my point of view, it was a great event and well done to all who were involved in arrange it.
In May, Ian and Tracy dusted off their Walther PPK’s and magnetic watches when they attended the Secret Agent themed Chamber of Commerce Presidents Ball at Magna. I’m told it was a great night and you can read more about it here.
Well, that’s it from me for this month, when you read this, I’ll be at the JCI European Conference in Malta (it’s a hard life for a local president sometimes) and I’ll tell you all about it next month.
