My first month as Deputy President!
My first month as Deputy President!
My first month of being deputy…
I can’t believe that it’s only been a month since being voted into the position of Deputy for JCI Rotherham. As they say… time flies when you’re having fun and what a busy month it has been. I’ve been to President’s and Deputy’s Day in Leeds, organised our first Come Dine with Us Social and attended Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce’s Annual President’s Ball, as well as attending other chambers events and training.
Presidents and Deputy’s Day was a fantastic first event to go to, only recently becoming a member of JCI, it was a fantastic opportunity to understand more about the organisation and it’s values, meet people from the National Board and other Chambers and just generally have fun. Everyone was so amazingly friendly and welcoming… so thank you for that if you were there, I really appreciated it, nothing scarier than going into a room full of people you don’t know, but so far I haven’t been to a JCI event where I haven’t felt welcomed straight away J Nothing better to finish off a great day, with a tasty curry, we all went to Akbars and it was great to have the chance to chat to people over some amazing food… speaking of food…
Friday 9th May, marks the start of many Come Dine with Us events, this is where a member gets to choose a restaurant and invites everyone to Come Dine with Us, our first event was my choice at the wonderful Elif Turkish Restaurant, ever stuck for somewhere to go I would definitely recommend it. The food was amazing, so tasty and so much of it… ok I am bias since it was my choice, but that’s why we have scores, each time we dine scores will be sent in, each place scored on Food, Presentation and Service, and along with the photos we took on the night, we will create our own Come Dine with Us montage programme. It’s perfect… all the good food of Come Dine with Me, without the cooking and washing up at the end of the night. Next is Tom’s choice, so watch this space J
The event to finish of my first month as Deputy was the spectacular Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce’s Annual President’s Ball, and spectacular was definitely the word that optimises the evening, from the entertainment, which I still can’t get over the skill of the magicians and the dancers, the amazing theme of James Bond, remarkable costumes and the brilliant atmosphere of the evening. It was a great night, that was fantastic from start to finish and we now have a mascot of Nick Nack, who has the JCI Rotherham logo on.
It been a fantastic and fast paced month I’ve had as JCI Rotherham’s deputy and I hope everyone else in Rotherham has enjoyed it as much as me… look out for all next month’s events, as I will most certainly be there, having as much fun this month.
