Race For Life
JCI Portsmouth teamed up with Cancer Research UK and volunteered our time at Race For Life in Southsea.
Seven thousand women ran a 5k or 10k race today and raised money for the charity. JCI Portsmouth helped to make the event happen by volunteering around the course.
We helped to marshall runnners before the race began, ensuring they were in the right place at the right time. We were in the thick of the action at the finish line too, handing out well-deserved medals and bottles of water to competitors.
All good things come to an end and JCI volunteers were ready to help clear up the site afterwards, tidying away equipment and clearing rubbish. We returned home knowing that we'd helped in one the largest Race For Life events in the south and enabled so many people to raise so much money for such a great cause. Well done ladies!
A special mention must go to Jasmine, JCI Portsmouth's running superstar who volunteered last year and has now taken the next step of actually taking part in the race. 5km on a hot day would have been a challenge for anybody and Jasmine finished in an impressive way, creating a Personal Best time - better than she expected. Well done Jazz!
