JCI Birmingham bowled off their feet

With new members in the chamber social events are essential to allow our members to get to know each other in a relaxed environment and also have 1 key thing, FUN!!

A group of JCI Birmingham members embarked on the first official social of the year, a night of bowling and to see who would be crowned the champ on the night. Everyone started with their excuses of "I'm not very good at bowling" or "I've not been bowling in ages" but as the night wore on it was soon clear to see who was competitive. Our very own Deputy Kay Purser could be heard saying "That 1 blooming pin" after pretty much each turn as she saught after her first strike! Kay turned competitive predator!!

Andy was the shining beacon in the very dark bowling alley (apparently lights out bowling makes us worse!). Andy managed 3 strikes on the bounce in the first game, earning himself a turkey animation on the scoring screen and crowning Andy the overall champ of the night and winning a donation of a bed net to Nothing But Nets campaign as it was World Malaria Day.

The members had a great time, we laughed, we drank, we occasionally cursed and we made new friendships. We have decided to challenge our Senators to a game of young'uns vs old'uns later in the year which will surely see the competitive side of all of us emerge.

I for one am looking forward to our next social, whatever that might be and learning more about my fantastic new members.
