Derry Junior Chamber Visit
Derry Junior Chamber Visit
Posted By admin |08 May 2017
One of the best aspects of my personal JCI membership is the continuous excitement of visiting new places and meeting new people. When I was invited to visit the City of Derry in Northern Ireland to meet the Junior Chamber and attend their Casino Night - I couldn't have been more thrilled.
The members of Derry Junior Chamber are ambitious, innovative and very hungry to provide young people in their city development opportunities. I was extremely impressed that this was complimented by the Mayor of the City, Hilary McClintock, who gave overwhelming support to the chamber during a group discussion together are the City Hall.
The City of Derry was the UK's first City of Culture in 2012 and you can really see and feel the legacy in and around the city. Led by the Local President Catriona Donnelly, the chamber is doing very well and has a mixture of events designed to enable their members to learn, become social and make a difference within their local community.
Spending the weekend meeting members, seeing the city and hearing the future plans for the chamber was truly a memorable experience.
