Active Citizen Week 4-11 December 2017
Posted By admin |05 Dec 2017
Did you know that this week is JCI Active Citizen week? 4-11 December is a week dedicated to our members engaging in active citizenship. This entails any sort of activities that make positive impact in our respective communities. In addition to the projects executed throughout the year, we encourage you to volunteer within your own local communities to make a positive difference there.
So why celebrate JCI Active Citizen Week?
It gives us the opportunity to recognize the work of active citizens that have come before us, as well as challenging us to think beyond ourselves in how we can give back to our communities. This is the ethos of our organization, and as one of the values in our JCI Creed asserts, “Service to humanity is the best work of life”. This is a great opportunity for you to put that into action.
So what could you do?
Anything from volunteering at a soup kitchen; visiting an elderly neighbour; picking up leaves at a communal park; cleaning up your street or even a local peace is possible campaign.
This is your chance to show the world what active citizenship means to you.
You could also join other jaycees in organizing events to continue the JCI legacy in creating positive sustainable change.
Speaking of Active Citizenship, JCI UK is so proud of the projects carried out by our members this year both at Local and National levels. It goes to show that a small number of dedicated members can make a huge impact in society. Just in case you missed it, here is a digital version of the brochure, showcasing some of the projects, linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that were carried out this year by our members nationwide.
