5 WAYS TO SUPPORT ANXIETY UK WITHOUT SPENDING A PENNY
5 WAYS TO SUPPORT ANXIETY UK WITHOUT SPENDING A PENNY
If you want to help JCI Manchester support Anxiety UK, you don’t necessarily have to put your hand in your pocket.
Need some inspiration? The following are our top five picks to give to charity without physically spending your cash.
1. Shop til you drop!
If you shop on Amazon then why not sign up to Amazon Smile? This fantastic initiative sees Amazon donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible Amazon purchases to your chosen charity (Anxiety UK). So next time you purchase that all important iPhone charger, protein powder or weekly coffee pods make sure you purchase them through Amazon Smile and you will have helped someone else at the same time!
2. Take Part!
Join your fellow JCI members and take part in our fantastic 2019 charity events. We have the Manchester 10k in May, our Yoga Series which kicks off at 6pm on Tuesday 19th of March or our Live Bake Off event in April. Simply rally your friends and family to offer support and sponsorship for you taking part.
3. Volunteer!
We are looking for some volunteers to help us with the following projects for Anxiety UK:
- Love Your Garden – we’re looking for a team of volunteers to help us spruce up Anxiety UK’s front and back garden – to provide an oasis of calm that their visitors can enjoy. If you have green fingers and would like to get involved with this project then please let us know you’re interested by signing up to the Love Your Garden Event which will be released shortly on our Eventbrite page; and
- Operation Mail – we’re also looking for a team of volunteers who are willing to donate a couple of hours to help us send out Anxiety UK’s publication ‘The Anxious Times’. If you have two hands and can fill envelopes then you’re perfect! We’ll provide refreshments, we just need some additional man/women power! Dates will again be released for this volunteering opportunity on our Eventbrite page shortly.
Help Anxiety UK raise awareness about what they do and the services they offer to the Manchester community. You may be in a fortunate enough position to donate money regularly or you may not be. If you’re not someone you know may be, so help JCI Manchester to make others aware. Share Anxiety UK’s posts on your social media channels, share their volunteering opportunities, tweet about them and tag them in twitter posts using Anxiety’s twitter handle @AnxietyUK and nominate them as your chosen charity of the year.
5. Spot, Learn and Cope
Help a friend or a colleague in need by recognising the symptoms of Anxiety and knowing where to sign post them to. JCI Manchester and Anxiety UK will be running some compassion based therapy sessions, an introduction to hypnotherapy and a session on how your mental health is linked to your gut health, so watch this space for further details. JCI Manchester will also be putting on some peer counselling sessions later this year, so why not join us for supper and share your experiences and your coping mechanisms with other young professionals.
