Roles in JCI UK's National Board
The National Board formulates and influences a strategy for the year of JCI UK. They overview national activities and helps local chambers and regions when needed.
The National Board of JCI UK is made up of experienced JCI members. Many have been local presidents or on the board for their local chamber.
Each member of is reasponsible for their own area of the plan for the year that will support and add value to the activities and objectives of each local president.
The board is also the 'information hub', communicating between the international and local levels of JCI.
Main roles on the National Board
National President
The National President is responsible for the day-to-day overview and management of JCI UK. It is a one-year tenure. As National President, you represent JCI nationally and internationally. You’re the chief delegate and VIP at all international JCI conferences.
You are often invited to speak at local chamber annual dinners. And you get to know many of our members, and you coordinate all national board activities. To ensure continuity, this isn’t an elected role. You have to be elected Deputy President the year before.
Immediate Past President
Ensures continuity in the council and is supporting the board.
Deputy President
Next year’s National President. You deputise for the current National President. Do the long-term planning and plan of action for chambers and preparing upcoming teams and presidents.
To qualify for this role, you should have served on the national council for one year. Election as Deputy National President is a three-year commitment to the organisation – as Deputy, President and Past President.
Deputy National Presidents attend the prestigious JCI Academy in Japan in July. This is a 10-day leadership training to learn about leadership in an international environment and become a Global Networker. The JCI Academy is sponsored by JCI Japan.
Treasurer
Responsible for the day to day finances, business plan, budget and investments of the organisation.
Administration Director
Responsible for agendas, mailings and communications with members and local chambers.
Marketing Director
Overviews marketing at the national level, corporate image and branding as well as JCI UK’s website and newsletters.
International Director
Liaises with international partner organisations such as the UN and International Chamber of Commerce. Looking after the national twins of JCI United Kingdom and JCI Scotland and JCI Ireland. Communicates international events and travel arrangements to members.
Business Director
Liaises with Chamber of Commerce and other strategic partners. Responsible for national business programmes and initiatives.
Training Director
Responsible for national training programmes and supporting local training directors.
Regional Group Chairman
Each regional group has a person on the national board that is responsible for supporting the local chambers and helping the regions develop. Regional Group Chairmen are often Past Presidents from local chambers with a passion for developing the organisation, developing new opportunities and new connections.
National Council
The National Council which is made up of National Board, Regional Group Chairs and Local Presidents is the governing body for JCI UK.
